Questionnaire “Your level of oratory”

Some more questions for the questionnaire:

41. To grab the audience’s attention I usually use jokes in my speech.
42.  While selecting the facts, I choose only new and reliable information.
43. My argumentation is not limited in myown experience and awareness of the problem.
44. You always expect the feedback of the audience.

·    What statements made you think? – The 1st question made me think.  It is impossible for me to use “public thinking” because I am not used to creating the speech on a spot. I am not the person who is good in improvising and such a situation makes me nervous a lot.

·    What surprised you? – The question №18. It seems strange for me to give a powerful argument to the audience that liked your speech. Is not it better to save them for people who still feel unsure about your performance?

·    What aspects do you think you are strong at? –While writing a speech, I am trying to think about emotional component of the performance. It means that I am good of creating friendly and confidential performance by giving good personal examples.

·    What skills you think you should work on? – I believe it would be better to pay more attention to the concrete facts and speak on the point without long introductions.

·    How do you feel about the result? – I got 44 points. It is a satisfactory result but still I am quite pleased with it because I thought it would be much worse. Nevertheless, it does not matter because I have to work on my public skills a lot.

Confidence is crucial to any undertaking

Dear ladies and gentlemen, allow me to spend just a little time discussing one interesting idea. Have you ever thought why is it important to stay self-reliant whatever happens?

To make things clear we should start with the word “confidence”. What comes to your mind when you hear this word? I believe, there will be different images of a self-assured person. No matter what you have imagined, in half of cases people tend to think that the lucky ones have such a characteristic but the rest only wish for it. In fact, confidence is a strong belief of yourself and your abilities and it is a learned skill. So, is it that useful to develop this skill?

Undoubtedly, the answer is “yes”. Confidence matters because it helps to move forward and overcome difficulties in our lives. In addition, confident people are not afraid of changes as they are open for new experience achieving their potential.

Confidence is a physiological thing. It all starts with yourself. If you do not want to believe in your own abilities, then who would? So, people who feel quite confident become “real” leaders or “hidden” ones because others trust them. Confidence is like an indicator of your skills and abilities. It is more obvious that people will listen to you since you are a specialist for them. You may be a qualified doctor or hold a degree in law, you may be very smart but still feel unsure of yourself – and it ruins all your talents! For example, you are on the verge of great discovery. However, you are afraid of being misunderstood or you are starting to doubt on its importance. While you are fighting it, someone can get ahead of you and patent the invention.

Be confident also means that you are able to communicate correctly. Self-reliant people can speak with an audience without any difficulty or handle a confrontation or even they manage conflicts.

All and all, as you can see such a quality as “confidence” is essential as you are able to overcome challenges and achieve goals with a help of it.
